Email Assistant

Meet your Email Assistant

The Email Assistant is a dedicated address that belongs to you — something like your-name@agent.hellodeck.ai. You email it the way you'd email a colleague: forward files, CC it on threads, or send it instructions. It files what you forward, follows threads you CC it on, and sets up routines you ask for in plain English.

Pick your address

What this is — and isn't

The assistant is just an address you send mail to. It is not an inbox add-on, browser extension, or integration with your email account:

  • No access to your mailbox. Deck doesn't read your inbox, your sent folder, or anything you haven't sent its way. It only sees the messages you forward or CC it on.
  • No outbound on your behalf. Deck only replies to you. It never emails customers, teammates, or anyone else on a thread — even if you ask it to or someone on the thread tells it to.
  • Nothing to install. Enabling the assistant turns on your address. There's no plug-in to add, no mailbox to connect, and no permissions to grant your email provider.

Schedule
A recurring routine
Runs on a cadence you describe.

1. Forward files and ask later

Forward a file (or a stack of them) to your assistant and tell it where to put them — "store this in Acme Renewal" or "file these against my Finance project." If the project already exists, Deck routes it to the existing project. If it doesn't, Deck asks you to name a new one. The reply lands in your inbox; the documents wait for you in Deck.

2. CC the assistant on a thread

CC your assistant address on a normal email exchange and Deck reads along. It can recommend how to respond, surface what's already in your projects or integrations, and answer follow-up questions — quietly, only to you. Nobody else on the thread sees Deck.

3. Ask it to run a routine

Tell your assistant what you'd like to see on a cadence — a 7 AM weekday brief, a Monday digest of every customer thread, an overnight scan for news on the companies you're tracking — and Deck handles it forever after. Each result lands in your inbox at the time you picked, the same way any other email would.

See what arrives

Everything you forward or CC shows up in your Inbox — a dashboard view of your assistant's mail, grouped into threads — and every sender appears in Contacts, where you decide who gets through.

Set it up

Set up your assistant → — two minutes start to finish.

Repeat work? Reach for a playbook

When you find yourself writing the same instruction to your assistant for the third time — "summarize this thread, pull the action items, draft a reply in my voice" — write it once as a playbook and reference it by name. "Run the Customer-Reply playbook on this thread." The instruction stops being a chore and becomes a one-liner.

Common questions

Can my whole team share one assistant address?

Each person gets their own address. That keeps Deck's replies private to you and lets it learn your routing preferences over time.

Will Deck reply to the original sender by mistake?

No. Replies always go only to you — even when you've CC'd the assistant on a multi-person thread. Deck never replies on your behalf to external parties.

Does enabling the assistant connect Deck to my inbox?

No. The assistant is just an address you email. Deck doesn't read your mailbox, doesn't have permissions on your email account, and can't send mail to anyone except you.
